Tuition

Tuition covers not only the actual time spent with the student at the lesson but time preparing for each student as well.

This includes:

  • Weekly lesson time spent with the student

  • An individualized lesson plan for the student

  • Group Workshop classes

  • Written progress reports (once a semester)

  • Development of teaching materials (including pieces arranged specifically for your child)

  • Training and experience

  • Recital Preparation

  • Repertoire planning

  • Professional organization memberships

  • Communication

  • Studio supplies and maintenance

Attendance and make-up

  • Any lesson canceled by the instructor will be rescheduled.

  • All missed lessons require a 24-hour notice. No make-up lessons are provided for missed lessons without the notice. There is a 50% tuition charge for a same day cancellation.

  • The paid tuition reserves an exclusive weekly time for your child. The instructor cannot resell that time nor create extra time in which to provide lessons. Please choose a lesson time that works consistently with you/your child’s schedule.

  • All missed lesson will be made up during the first week of the break following the end of the semester. No more than two make-ups per semester is allowed.

  • Lessons are not extended to accommodate late arrivals. Please be on time.

  • Students who are ill should not come to lessons. The teacher reserves the right to send a student home if they arrive ill and/or are contagious to others. If the student (or a family member) has been exposed to anyone ill/with symptoms, the student should not attend the lesson in person. The lesson that day will take place online instead.

  • If the student (or a family member) has tested positive for COVID-19, or has been in direct contact (unmasked, not socially distanced) with someone who tested positive, the student should have their lesson(s) online until it is safe to resume in-person lessons.

Missed lesson time may be made up in other ways beneficial to the student:

    1. FaceTime or Zoom Lesson – If the student is ill or contagious but well enough to play, the lesson can be conducted virtually.

    2. Video Recording of Instructions – The instructor may provide a recording of the lesson or instructions, though this option is not always guaranteed.

    3. Parent/Teacher Conference – A parent may use the missed lesson time to call and discuss their child’s progress with the instructor.

    4. Pre-Recorded Lessons – The student can send a pre-recorded performance of their repertoire before their scheduled lesson. The instructor will provide written or video feedback during the student’s regular lesson time.

    5. “Gift” Your Lesson – Students may choose to gift their lesson time to family or friends.
